Liverpool Star Mohamed Salah Welcomes Ramadan

Liverpool's Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah celebrated the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Liverpool's Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah celebrated the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Egyptian international and Liverpool striker celebrated the beginning of the month of fasting by posting a picture from inside his home, Al Jazeera reported.

Salah posted the photo on his official social media accounts showing him next to Ramadan decorations and lanterns and wrote a short sentence: “Ramadan Kareem”.

The photo was widely welcomed by his fans, who always enjoy seeing the human and calm side of the Egyptian national team captain’s personality, despite the pressure of football competitions.

Mohamed Salah is among dozens of active players in the English Premier League who have decided to fast with the start of Ramadan, a matter that reflects the cultural and religious diversity in English football and has become more evident with the increase in the number of Muslim players in recent years.

Ramadan is the ninth and most sacred month of the Islamic calendar, in which Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, and smoking.

They also devote more time to prayer, charity and good deeds, seeking to strengthen their faith and purify their souls.
